What to do if you are unable to start the Norton product?



A lot of Norton users come across this problem, especially after they update their Norton product. In order to overcome this technical issue, Norton Antivirus tech support team of Global technical support UK suggests downloading and run the Norton Remove & Reinstall tool to uninstall and reinstall Norton.


Step 1 – Restart the computer

  • Exit all the programs
  • Restart the computer

If the problem persists, follow step 2.



Step 2 – Download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

If you have Norton Family installed, Norton Antivirus tech support recommends uninstall it before you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

  • Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool
  • Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location
  • To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key
  • Double-click the NRnR icon
  • Read the license agreement, and click Agree
  • Click Remove & Reinstall.
  • You may see the Remove button if your Norton product is from your service provider
  • Click Continue or Remove
  • Click Restart Now

After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product

Step 1 – Download and run removeSymantecMacFiles tool

  • Download the RemoveSymantecMacFiles.zip file
  • Click the Finder icon in the Dock to be in the Finder
  • On the menu bar, click Go > Downloads to go to the Downloads folder
  • In the RemoveSymantecMacFiles folder, control-click the RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command file, and then click Open with > Terminal (default)
  • To run this tool, you must be logged in to your Mac with an Administrator account with a non-blank password
  • If you see a prompt that the tool is from an unidentified developer, click Open to continue
  • In the Terminal window, type your administrator password, and then press return
  • To remove all Symantec files and folders, type 1
  • If you want to quit RemoveSymantecMacFiles without removing any files, type 2
  • Press return
  • RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all of the Symantec files
  • When the RemoveSymantecMacFiles tool finishes removing the Symantec files, in the Terminal window, type y, and press return to restart your Mac


Step 2 – Download your Norton product

  • Sign in to Norton
  • If you are not signed in to Norton already, you will be prompted to sign in. Type in your email address and password for Norton, and click Sign In
  • If you do not have a Norton account, click Create account and complete the sign-up process
  • In the Norton Setup window, click Download Norton
  • Click Agree & Download
  • Click OK to save and open the Setup.zip file
  • When the download finishes, double-click the Norton product Installer
  • Click Agree & Install to start the installation
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
  • When LiveUpdate finishes installing updates, click Continue
  • In the Installation Successful window, click Restart

You must restart your computer to complete the installation process
